The Illinois Section of the MAA was founded in 1917, two years after the national Association was chartered. The Illinois Section is the tenth-oldest in the Association. The mission of the MAA is to advance the mathematical sciences, especially at the collegiate level. Since its inception, the Illinois Section has worked to help the MAA meet its mission.

The 2018 Annual Meeting will be a Tri-Section meeting held jointly with the Indiana and Michigan sections of the MAA from March 23 - 24, 2018 at Valparaiso University.

The fall newsletter of ISMAA is Out of Focus. The fall edition is now available.

ISMAA has now established an Early Career Teaching Award for faculty who have recently joined mathematics faculty in Illinois. The Awards Committee is now taking nominations for this and other awards given by the section.

The Announcements section of this site is now found under the recently added News section. A page detailing grants that may be of interest to section members can also be found there.

The 2018 Joint Mathematics Meetings will be held from January 10-13 in San Diego, California.
