Carol Crawford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching

The Carol Crawford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching is presented by the MAA Metropolitan New York Section to individuals whose teaching and mentoring have had an extraordinary impact on undergraduate students. It comes with a $500 award. Nominees must:
   1. Be college or university instructors who teach mathematical science courses at least half‐time during the academic year in the United States or Canada.
   2. Have at least 7 years of experience teaching in the mathematical sciences at the college or university level.
   3. Hold a current membership in the MAA (to receive the monetary award).

To nominate someone for this award, fill out the nomination form by February 23, 2025. (Self-nomination is not permitted.)

For the nominee selected for the award by the Award Committee, the MAA requires the following documentation. You need not provide it at this time, although it may strengthen a nominee's case.
   1. A narrative describing the nominee's background (no more than 5 pages, double spaced).
   2. Evidence that the nominee deserves the award (no more than 3 pages).
   3. 5 one-page letters of recommendation: two from students, two from colleagues, and one from anyone qualified to comment on the candidate's extraordinary teaching success.
