Award for Distinguished Service

The Award for Distinguished Service is presented by the MAA Metropolitan New York Section to individuals who have, through their actions and efforts, rendered significant service to further the understanding and dissemination of mathematics in the New York area, and, in general, have helped the Metropolitan New York Section of the MAA. Such service may consist of promoting mathematics among pre-college students, helping the general public gain a better understanding of mathematical ideas and the overall importance of mathematics, helping continuously and tirelessly to organize the activities of the section, serving long and dedicated years as an officer of the section and/or other activity that furthers the interest of mathematics and the Metropolitan New York Section.

To nominate someone for this award, fill out the nomination form by February 23, 2025. Any member of the Metropolitan New York Section may submit a nomination on their own behalf, as well as for another member. All nominations that are submitted may be held for no more than three years for consideration for the award in a subsequent year.
