Section Project NExT

Project NExT is a program sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), which was initiated with a grant from the Exxon Education Foundation, for new and recent graduates with doctorates in the mathematical sciences who are interested in improving the teaching and understanding of undergraduate mathematics.

At the national level, Project NExT provides workshops and a faculty network to share ideas and concepts in teaching and assessing college students. The Texas Section of the MAA offers Project NExT regional workshops and a special retreat during the fall semester. Our program is designed for faculty in the mathematical sciences who are early in their careers, at any higher education institution (including community colleges.) Faculty in their first four years of full-time teaching at the college/university level are invited to apply to become Texas Section Project NExT Fellows.

Fellowships

Fellows will participate in sessions specifically designed for them during the Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference in the fall semester and the MAA Texas Section Meeting in the spring semester.

Funding for registration, meals (while at the conference), and double occupancy accommodations while at the meetings will be provided by a generous contribution from the MAA Texas Section. Additionally, up to $150 per meeting in travel expenses will be supported. Your institution is asked to cover the remaining travel expenses for getting to and from the meetings. For each Fellow, this funding is for two years for a total of four meetings.

You can apply for a Texas Section NExT Fellowship by filling out an application form. You will also need to attach your CV and a Teaching Statement to the application. If you’d rather email your CV and/or Teaching Statement, please email them to marcos.lopez@msutexas.edu.
