Grand Valley State University
The student chapter of the MAA is petitioning for membership in Pi
Mu Epsilon. Monica Simon has been elected President. Additional

Hillsdale College
The Michigan Delta Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon was installed in
April 1997.
Michigan Technological University
The MTU Math Society is engaged in the study of Applied Geometry.
Oakland University
After an award-winning year in 1996-97, the Students for the
Advancement of Mathematics (S.A.M.) plan speakers and others activities this
year, beginning with a lecture on the Mackinac Bridge by
John Ginther (EMU).
Siena Heights College
Angela Root is the president of the Mathematical Association of
Siena Scholars (a charter MAA student club). The club sponsored a Las
Vegas night during the college homecoming weekend.
University of Michigan-Flint
Student Union for Mathematics (S.U.M.) is a Student Chapter of the MAA.
Its 1997-98 officers are Kevin Hewitt and
Kristy Nickels, Co-presidents; Jason
Holt, Secretary; and Cathy Hocken and
Carrie Ranville, Co-treasurers. The club is considering hosting another career fair in the
spring, as they did two years ago.
Western Michigan University
The 1997-98 officers of Pi Mu Epsilon are
Robert Walk, President; Christopher
Poisson, Vice-President; Sean Chapin, Secretary;
Matthew Schipper, Treasurer; and Linda
Eroh, Graduate Student Representative. Recent Pi Mu Epsilon speakers were
Allen Schwenk (WMU), Peter Hilton (SUNY at Binghamton, and University of Central Florida),
Jean Pedersen (Santa Clara University), and
Carl Metzler (Pharmacia & Upjohn, retired).
