Grand Valley State University has six new positions to be filled beginning August 1998. These positions are in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics. All require a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching with additional qualifications specific to the position. Kalamazoo College will hire an Assistant Professor in Statistics and one in Computer Science, to begin September 1998, with application closing dates of December 31 and January 15, respectively (later applications will be reviewed as needed until the position is filled). An appropriate PhD is required in each case. Responsibilities include teaching a broad range of courses and developing an active research program that involves student participation. Michigan Technological University announces that applications are invited for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Statistics starting in August. Requirements include a PhD, excellent research potential, and a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness. Review of applications will begin on December 15 and continue until the position is filled. Schoolcraft College anticipates hiring one full-time Mathematics Professor to start Fall 1998. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years relevant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to teach a wide variety of freshman and sophomore college mathematics courses, including familiarity with the use of graphing calculators and other technology in the classroom. Look for a posting in The Chronicle of Higher Education and in local newspapers in January or February, with interviews conducted in Spring and early Summer 1998.

University of Michigan-Dearborn expects to advertise a tenure track position in Mathematics Education for Fall 1998.

Wayne State University has two openings for next year.

Western Michigan University expects to have one two-year position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 1998 in Mathematics Education at the collegiate or secondary level.
