EPaDel Fall 2020 Election Slates
The election will be held online, initiated by an email from the MAA office that you will receive at the time of the business meeting on November 7. The election system will remain open for one week following the section meeting. Elections are by approval voting (i.e., vote for any number of candidates whom you approve), and write in votes are welcome.
Candidates for Secretary
There are two candidates for Secretary of the section.
- Christopher J. Catone, Albright College
Chris Catone is associate professor and department chair of the mathematics department at Albright College, a liberal arts institution located in Reading. He received his bachelors degree at The College of New Jersey, following which he taught high school
mathematics and physics. After earning his Ph.D. in 2006 from the University of Colorado at Boulder, he held a post-doctoral position at the University of Hawaii. He has been a member of the EPaDel section of the MAA since 2009. He was the Section NExT
coordinator from 2012-2016 and is currently the Faculty Talks coordinator. His interests include geometry, mathematical pedagogy, physics, music, biking, hiking, and rock climbing.
- Brian Kronenthal, Kutztown University
I have been part of the EPaDel community my entire academic career, including as an undergraduate student at Lafayette College, a graduate student at University of Delaware, and since 2013 as a faculty member at Kutztown University, where I am an Associate
Professor of Mathematics. I served as co-local coordinator of the Spring 2017 EPaDel Section Meeting and co-organizer of the Fall 2019 EPaDel Careers in Mathematics Conference, both hosted by Kutztown University. I have also served as co-coordinator of EPaDel’s
Section NExT professional development program since 2016.
Candidates for Member-At-Large
There are two open positions for Member-At-Large, and three candidates.
- Grant Innerst, Shippensburg University
I am an assistant professor of mathematics at, and proud graduate of, Shippensburg University. I came back to Ship in 2019 after completing my Ph.D. in Statistical Science from Baylor University. As an undergraduate, I was able to attend a few EPaDel meetings,
and I am happy to be back in this section. At Shippensburg, I am a faculty mentor and organizer of the data science club and an active supporter of the math club. At the regional/national level, I am a member of EPaDel’s Section NExT group and a number of
SIGMAA’s, including the SIGMAA on Statistics Education. I am excited for the opportunity to become more involved in the EPaDel Section of the MAA.
- Amanda Lohss, Messiah University
I am an assistant professor of mathematics at Messiah University. I began working at Messiah in the fall of 2017 after receiving my PhD in mathematics from Drexel University in June 2017. Some of my professional activities include research with undergraduates
and serving as the faculty advisor for the math club at Messiah. I have participated in several MAA conferences and am a Project NExT fellow (2017 Blue Dot). I have been involved in the EPaDel section as both a graduate student and a faculty member and have
given several research talks at these meetings. At Messiah, we bring students each year to the fall EPaDel meeting and some of my research students presented at the Spring 2019 meeting. I appreciate and support the role of these sectional meetings, especially
the accessibility for undergraduate students, and would love to become more involved in the EPaDel section.
- Samantha Pezzimenti, Penn State Brandywine
I am an assistant teaching professor at the Brandywine campus of Penn State University. I joined the Brandywine Math department in 2018, but have been frequenting EPaDel meetings since 2012, while in graduate school at Bryn Mawr College. As a graduate student,
I loved the supportive community of our EPaDel section, and was determined to stay in our section after earning my PhD! At Brandywine, I am actively involved with our STEM outreach programs and Math Club (whose members are often seen performing dazzling magic
tricks at EPaDel events). I also recently graduated from Project NExT (Silver ’19), where I organized special sessions and social activities for our cohort. I currently enjoy managing the social media accounts for our section (follow us!), and am looking to
strengthen my involvement as a Member at Large.
