Neal Carothers died suddenly January 29,
2018 in Bowling Green at age 65.
He was born in Toledo, and received his doctorate in 1982 from
The Ohio State University in Banach Spaces. Before coming to
BGSU in 1987, he had taught at Wayne State and Texas A&M. He
was Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
1999-2007, and was an active member of the Ohio Section.
He had 3 PhD students and wrote a widely acclaimed graduate
textbook on Real Analysis. He retired in 2011.
