2016 Fall: University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
The Keynote Speaker is Peter Bubenik, University of Florida. There will be workshops led by Peter Bubenik and Statistics faculty at South Dakota State University
There is an optional 1-day workshop prior to the summer seminar on June 21, 2016 where you can learn about programming with “R”. The dates for the summer seminar are June 22-24, 2016.
Overview: Participants in the seminar will get a peek into the world of big data. We’ll investigate big data used in various fields and learn about big data analysis using mathematical and statistical methods. The goal of the seminar is to familiarize participants with a wide variety of techniques and applications, emphasizing breadth rather than depth. The material will be accessible to a broad range of faculty and scholars- no specific specialty in statistics or topology will be required. The seminar will include a mix of lecture and hands-on work and should provide tools for scholars to use in their own work and in the undergraduate classroom.
