Undergraduate Conference Slated for February

The Michigan Undergraduate Mathematics Conference will take place at Alma College on Saturday, February 19, 2000. This event is being planned by the student mathematics organizations at Alma College, Siena Heights University, and Grand Valley State University. Conference events include a keynote presentation by Joseph Gallian (U of Minnesota-Duluth), student talks, a panel discussion on graduate schools led by students and faculty from various graduate programs, and presentations focusing on careers, undergraduate research programs, and graduate programs.

Students are encouraged to give brief presentations on any area of mathematical interest, including undergraduate research projects, interesting class projects, mathematics history, technology usage, etc.

Registration materials will be mailed to departments in late November and are available on-line (http://www.gvsu.edu/mathstat/mumc.html). Questions concerning the conference may be directed to Paul Fishback, Student Activities Coordinator (see contact information on the committee listing).
