Positions Available

Alma College (http://www.mcs.alma.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in computer science.

Calvin College (http://www.calvin.edu/academic/math) reports that both tenure-track and temporary positions are available, pending approval from the administration. A statistician is preferred for one position.

Central Michigan University needs an Assistant Professor in statistics (http://www.cst.cmich.edu/units/mth/fsearch.htm).

Eastern Michigan University has a mathematics education position to fill.

Grand Valley State University (http://www.gvsu.edu/mathstat) is accepting applications for tenure-track positions in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. Postdoctoral teaching positions and visiting positions are also available.

Kettering University has one or two new positions to fill.

Michigan State University is looking to fill four tenure-track positions. Of these, one is designated for analysis, one for applied mathematics, one for mathematics education, and the other can be from any research area, although there are some preferred areas. There are also a number of postdoctoral positions. For full details, click on "Jobs" at the department-s Web site (http://www.math.msu.edu).

Oakland University (http://www.math.oakland.edu) has two tenure-track openings, one in mathematics and mathematics education and the other in continuous optimization. There is at least one visiting position, as well. For details, follow links on the Departments home page.

University of Michigan-Dearborn (http://www.umd.edu/casl/math) plans to fill a tenure-track position in mathematics education at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The teaching load is 18 credit hours per academic year (Assistant Professors receive one course released time per year for each of the first three years).

Wayne State University has one opening for next year.

Western Michigan University seeks applicants for chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics beginning July 1, 2000. The are also tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level in collegiate mathematics education and in biostatistics. See http://www.wmich.edu/math-stat/positions for more information. Several renewable Instructor positions are also anticipated. For students pursuing a doctoral program in secondary mathematics education or in collegiate mathematics education, a special two-thirds Instructor position may be available.

Also, the MAA has announced that it is seeking a highly qualified person for the position of Associate Executive Director, Membership and Programs in Washington, DC.
