INMAA Spring Meeting: March 13-14 at Taylor University

Greetings to all,

I hope that you will be able to attend our March 13-14, 2015 section meeting at Taylor University in Upland.

Our featured speakers are Francis Su, MAA President, of Harvey Mudd College who will give the talks entitled "My Favorite Math Fun Facts" and "All about Cubes on Super Pi Day", and Jenna Carpenter, MAA 1st Vice President, of Louisiana Tech University whose talk is entitled "Top Secret: Women's Contributions to the History of Computing".

The student workshop will be "Lattices, Limits, and Lines, Oh My!: A Pi Day Exploration", led by Stacy Hoehn of Franklin College.

The spring meeting features the fiftieth Indiana College Mathematics Competition (ICMC) and a celebration of pi day on 3/14/15. The registration fee includes the cost of T-shirts celebrating the fiftieth ICMC. We will also have an Indiana NExT panel discussion with Justin Gash from Franklin College, Edray Goins from Purdue University, Vincenzo Isaia from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Francis Su from Harvey Mudd College discussing "Engaging Students in Extracurricular Math Activities."

Please consider giving a talk. We have a Call for Papers, Meeting Registration Form, Preliminary Program, and Lodging & Directions available on our section web page
The deadline for abstracts is Friday, February 27. Encourage your students to attend the meeting, give talks and participate in the Friendly Competition (ICMC). The registration deadline and ICMC registration deadline is Thursday, March 5, 2015.

I'd like to thank the executive board for their hard work and insightful comments: Alain Togbe (vice-chair and chair elect), Haseeb Kazi (secretary), Josh Holden (public information officer), Alex Capaldi (treasurer), Justin Gash (student activities coordinator), John Lorch (section governor), and Robert Merkovsky (past chair). Our Indiana Project NExT coordinator is Stacy Hoehn of Franklin College.

The Executive Board always invites your comments and suggestions for activities within the Section. These can be given to any Executive Board member. Please let any of the Board members know if you are interested in serving in any way. I look forward to seeing you in Upland.

Contributed Talks: A web form was available on the left under "Call for Papers," until Friday, Feb 27, 2015.
Rooms for talks all have computer projection, laptop connections, and white board or black board. If you need an overhead projector or other equipment, there is space on the form to inform the organizers.
There will be time slots for contributed talks on both Friday and Saturday.

Using the EventBrite web form for registration and paying by credit card is preferred; however if you want to pay by check and register by mail, there is a paper form PDF you can send to the Indiana Section Secretary, to arrive by Thursday, March 5, 2015. Late registration will also be available on-site.
