INMAA Fall Meeting: October 16 at Purdue North Central

Greetings to members and friends of the Indiana Section of the MAA.

It is that time of year again when we are back in our classrooms, refreshed by inspiring research and vacations we enjoyed during the summer. If you are looking for an opportunity to meet your colleagues and exchange ideas that concern our profession, please read the following information about the section’s news, events, and the upcoming meeting.

First, I would like to thank Ken Luther (Valparaiso University) for excellent service as Chair of the section last year. Under his leadership we all enjoyed two wonderful meetings at Purdue University Calumet and Franklin College. A big thank you goes to Student Activities Coordinator Robert Talbert (Franklin College) for arranging engaging student activities during the last Spring meeting.  Incoming officers are Justin Gash (Franklin College), who replaces Robert as Student Activities Coordinator, and Patrick Sullivan (Valparaiso University), who is Vice Chair and will be chairing the section starting Spring 2011. Continuing officers are Secretary Andy Rich (Manchester College), Treasurer Charlie Peltier (St. Mary's College), Public Information Officer Adam Coffman (IPFW), Newsletter Editor William Turner (Wabash College), and AMC Regional Coordinator Elton Graves (Rose Hulman). Our section Governor - who represents us at the national level - is David Housman (Goshen College).  It's all of these people who help the organization continue to run smoothly, so tell them that you appreciate their hard work when you see them.  If you are interested in helping with governing the section or helping in any other way, please let any of us know. Opportunities always arise; for example, this is David Housman's last year as the Governor and we will search for a new Governor next year.

Our Indiana Section web site is now being hosted on the servers of the MAA Headquarters in Washington, DC.  Our stable URL: will still direct you to our front page, but any bookmark or link to an individual page whose URL begins: should be updated to our new web address:

The nominations for the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Distinguished Service Award are due on January 15, 2011.
