The Certificates of Meritorious Service are presented for service to the MAA at the national level or for service to a Section of the Association. The first such awards were made in 1984. At each January meeting of the Association, honorees from roughly six Sections are recognized. 1984 - Gerhard N. Wollan 1989 - Rodney T. Hood 1994 - Paul Mielke 1999 - Billy E. Rhoades 2004 - Underwood Dudley 2009 - Carl Cowen The next turn for the Indiana Section will be 2014, with nominations in 2013. Nominations may be submitted to the Indiana Section Service Award Committee by Feb. 8, 2013. The procedure for the Section's nomination of an individual for this national award is described at the MAA page for its Certificate of Meritorious Service.
