Everyone thinks they know what math is and what music is, and in the case of mathematics the belief is often far removed from the mathematics that mathematicians actually do. We have an image problem. Mathematics is a beautiful thing to us. Why do most people think it is boring? Could it be our teaching doesn’t bring out its beauty?
