"Making Beautiful Music in the Mathematics Classroom" Part I     by Matt DeLong

At Taylor we are encouraged to integrate faith and learning in all disciplines. Every semester I try to convince my students that Paul could have been referring to (among other things) mathematics in his Philippians 4:8 charge. Most students will agree that (at least some parts of) mathematics is true, right, pure, etc. But is math “lovely?” Most people don’t seem to think so.

Bringing my identity and integrity together, both mathematics and music are important to me, and the reason in part is that they are both lovely. However….
