"Making Beautiful Music in the Mathematics Classroom" Part II     by Matt DeLong

In mathematics, after you give a definition, you present examples. The next few slides are basically a super-condensed version of a talk that Iíve given several times on attributes of mathematical beauty, with comparisons to beauty in music. Several of the attributes are from ďThe Divine Proportion,Ē a book on the golden ratio by Huntley. The mathematical examples that we will look at are ones that Iíve taught within the last couple of years in various courses, and the musical examples are songs that Iíve done in the last few years with my church choir.
