The Mathematical Association of America's
Certificate of Meritorious Service

About the Award

The Certificates of Meritorious Service are presented for service to the MAA at the national level or for service to a Section of the Association. The first such awards were made in 1984. At each January meeting of the Association, honorees from roughly six Sections are recognized. The 2019 nominee for the Indiana Section has been selected. The next turn for the Indiana Section will be 2024, with nominations in 2023.

The procedure for the Section's nomination of an individual for this national award is described at the MAA page for its Certificate of Meritorious Service.

Previous Winners

While full citations are not available for the first two award winners, our section historian wrote this article about Rodney Hood and Gerhard Wollan to help us learn more about these two individuals.
