ISMAA 1995 ANNUAL MEETING
Meeting Overview
The Seventy-Fourth Annual Meeting of the Illinois Section of the MAA will be
held March 31 and April 1 on the campus of
Monmouth College in
Monmouth, Illinois.
All meeting sessions will be held in the Haldeman-Thiessen Science Center and
the Friday Banquet and Saturday breakfasts will be in the Stockdale Student
Center.
This year's meeting includes invited addresses by Deborah Hughes Hallett, Robert
Hogg, John Conway, Florence Fasenelli, and Doris Shattschneider, a Minicourse on
the Harvard Calculus Project, several panel discussions, a poster session,
publishers exhibits, and activities for students.

Minicourse
A Minicourse on the Harvard Calculus Project will be presented by
Deborah Hughes Hallett, Harvard University,
from 9:00 - 11:30 Friday morning. The course will discuss how to use
the Harvard Calculus Consortium materials. Books will be provided for
those that do not have them.
Cost for the Minicourse is $20.00. Preregistration is
required for the Minicourse and enrollment is limited to 40.

Banquet
The banquet will be held Friday evening at 6:30 in the Stockdale
Student Center. After dinner festivities include the the presentation of
the annual ISMAA Distinguished Service Award and a talk by Robert
Hogg of the University of Iowa.
The cost of the dinner, which will be served buffet style, is $20.00.
Banquet tickets must be purchased in advance.

Poster Sessions
The poster sessions may include innovations in the classroom or topics in
research. The visual displays will be available from 9:30 - 12:00 noon
Saturday; however, the best opportunity for informal discussions with the
presenters will be as the poster sessions open.
The poster sessions are meant to encourage the informal exchange of ideas and
may include innovations in the classroom or topics in research. Presenters
should provide a visual display and be available for individualized, informal,
discussions. To register as a presenter or for more information on the
poster sessions contact John Haverhals at Bradley University (e-mail

Student Activities
A number of activities of particular interest to Mathematics Students
are scheduled in including a mathematics contest, a Friday evening
Pizza Party with Mathematical Diversions by John Conway, and student
presentations.

on the Monmouth College Campus.
