President's Message

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2013 Joint Annual Meeting with FTYCMA at the University of Tampa in February. We had a fabulous turnout with exciting and engaging speakers from a variety of fields. Each year, I look forward to seeing the familiar faces of the wonderful mathematicians who enjoy our conference and the new faces that are being welcomed into the community. I’d like to thank each of you for participating in making our conference memorable!

If you haven’t already, make plans to join us at the 2014 meeting to be held at Edison State College in beautiful Fort Myers! The conference will take place February 21 – 22 and you can look forward to a dynamic program, with top researchers and educators in Florida coming together to share research and best practices in education with one another. Please consider submitting your own paper to share your wonderful teaching techniques or valuable research with your Florida colleagues. Don’t forget that we strongly encourage students to join us in celebrating the joy of mathematics by attending, presenting, and participating in our student contests at the conference.

Finally, I’d like to remind you that the MAA is your organization. Thank you for being a part of our region and let us know what we can do to best serve you! Also, we encourage you to get involved—let us know if you would like to help the organization continue to do a wonderful job of serving our mathematics community.
