Eduardo Fernandez is on a 9 month sabbatical at Stanford University from January to September, 2007 researching turbulence and Hall Thrusters.

Jerry Junevicus continues his research in petroleum engineering with colleagues at the University of Stavenger, Norway.

David Kerr is developing a course on ‘mathematics & strength’ which will cover some of the mathematical models involved in the biomechanics of strength.

Walter Walker is participating this summer as a reader for the AP Statistics exam.

Jianqiang Zhao has had two recent publications in the Journal of Number Theory. The first entitled ‘Bernoulli Numbers, Wolstendholme’s theorem and p^5 variations of Lucas’ theorem. The second entitled ‘Goncharov’s relations in Bloch’s higher Chow group CH3(F,5).’

Student News

Chris Bauer is the 2007 recipient of the Meacham Mathematics Memorial Award – the M^3 Award – for outstanding performance and achievement in mathematics at Eckerd. Chris graduates in May 2007 and has plans to complete an undergraduate degree in chemistry at USF before enrolling in graduate school in mathematics in 2008.
